Bike Rentals and Information
At the Sakurajima Visitor Center, you can rent a sports cycle. Please note that reservations are not available; rentals are on a first-come, first-served basis.
Rental Details
Our sports cycles are cross-bikes, combining the speed of road bikes with the stability of mountain bikes. These 24-speed bikes are perfect for Sakurajima's hilly terrain, ensuring both speed and comfort.
Please note that bike rentals are limited to individuals aged 18 and over. Children's bicycles are not available.

Wear clothes that allow easy movement and avoid loose pants that may get caught in the chain. For safety, always wear a helmet. Sunglasses are also recommended to protect against volcanic ash and UV rays. - Follow Traffic Rules and Be Mindful of Road Conditions
Bicycles are classified as vehicles under Japanese traffic laws. Always follow traffic rules. Note that about three-quarters of Sakurajima’s roads are mountainous with steep slopes. Be cautious, especially on downhill roads, as it’s easy to gain speed. - Watch Out for Volcanic Ash
Roads on Sakurajima may be covered with volcanic ash, which can be very slippery. Reduce your speed, especially on curves and slopes. - Plan Your Route with Ample Time
Ensure you choose a route that allows sufficient time for your return. Maintain a comfortable pace and save enough energy for the ride back. - Check Meal and Rest Stops in Advance

Rental Procedure
Registration
Fill out the registration form with your details.
Pay the basic rental fee (3-hour rate) in advance.
Note: Your ID will be verified, and a copy will be made.
Pre-Departure Check
Check the brakes, gears, and adjust the bike for a comfortable fit.
For your safety, wearing a helmet is mandatory.
Return
Please return the bike by 4:30 PM on the same day.
If you exceed the rental time, an additional fee will be charged for each extra hour.
